Can all USB C cables transfer data?

No, the name USB-C refers to the physical shape of the connector, not the protocol. Even though two cables can have the same physical connector, the supported protocols may be different. The protocol or specification determines what the cable can transmit, and how fast it can send it.

The USB Type-C connector, or USB-C for short, is located on the bottom of a smartphone and is used most of the time for charging, data transfer, and other purposes.

USB Type-C appearance features

  1. Ultra-thin

A thinner body requires a thinner port, which is one of the reasons why USB-C came out of nowhere. USB-C ports are 0.83 cm long and 0.26 cm wide. Older USB ports are 1.4 cm long and 0.65 cm wide already seem outdated. This also means that the end of the USB-C cable will be one-third the size of a standard USB-A type cable plug.

  1. No positive or negative

Like Apple’s Lightning connector, the USB-C port is the same on the front and the reverse side. That is, no matter how you plug this port is correct. Users do not have to worry about the traditional USB port brought about by the positive and negative problems.

USB C can be divided into three types based on the protocol.

  1. Supports fast charging only
  2. supports fast charging and data transfer functions.
  3. supports fast charging, data transfer and video transfer functions

In general, the second one can meet our cell phone needs, the third one is generally needed to connect the display device with a computer before it is needed.
